Attendance Requirements

All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes – in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).

Assessment Overview

Recommended Student Time Commitment

Each 6-credit Postgraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 12.5 hours of study per week, making a total of 150 hours for the unit.

Assessment Tasks

Assessment Task Weighting
1. Online Quiz(zes) 20%
2. Written Assessment 50%
3. Reflective Practice Assignment 30%

This is a graded unit: your overall grade will be calculated from the marks or grades for each assessment task, based on the relative weightings shown in the table above. You must obtain an overall mark for the unit of at least 50%, or an overall grade of ‘pass’ in order to pass the unit. If any ‘pass/fail’ tasks are shown in the table above they must also be completed successfully (‘pass’ grade). You must also meet any minimum mark requirements specified for a particular assessment task, as detailed in the ‘assessment task’ section (note that in some instances, the minimum mark for a task may be greater than 50%).

Feedback, Recommendations and Responses

Every unit is reviewed for enhancement each year. At the most recent review, the following staff and student feedback items were identified and recommendations were made.

Source: SUTE survey
Feedback
This unit really provides critical aspects of project initiation and planning. The assessments are designed in a way that helps students in obtaining practical knowledge and skills in project management.
Recommendation
Continue to create authentic and practical case studies and scenarios for assessments. Review unit material and check the suitability of its content to the new revision of the textbook (PMBOK) that has been released in mid-2021.
Action Taken
With the exception of Assessment 1, which consists of an online MCQ quiz, Assessments 2 and 3 employ authentic case studies. Notably, Assessment 3 is designed with scaffolding, requiring students to present their progress weekly during tutorials.

Feedback
The Mentimeter quizzes and games being conducted at the end of lectures provide a better understanding of the subjects.
Recommendation
Mentimeter quizzes and presentations run at the end of lectures weeks 3, 4, 9 and 11. Work with the teaching team to expand its use across more lectures and perhaps tutorials.
Action Taken
Mentimeter and Kahoot are integrated into lectures and tutorials to enhance student engagement. Tutor's notes are provided weekly to support tutors in delivering class activities while ensuring consistency in teaching across various campuses.

Feedback
The assignments are designed and were based on real-time project scenarios, which is a good aspect of the unit. It would have been great to receive more guidance for Assessment 2.
Recommendation
Review the assignments instructions and provide more clarity to the students' tasks. Run weekly drop-in sessions so students can ask and clarify their questions about assignment tasks.
Action Taken
In complement to clarifying the assessment requirements, drop-in sessions were conducted to facilitate direct interaction between students and the unit coordinator, providing a platform for inquiries related to the course and assessments.

Feedback
Assessment 2 primarily employs Australian case studies, posing potential challenges for international students in grasping the context and meeting assessment requirements.
Recommendation
Introduce supplementary case studies during lecture and tutorial sessions to familiarize students with case study discussions. Seamlessly incorporate explanations of assessment requirements into relevant lecture discussions. Improve accessibility to a platform where students can address concerns regarding assessments.
