Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
Recommended Student Time Commitment
Each 6-credit Undergraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 12.5 hours of study per week, making a total of 150 hours for the unit.
Assessment Tasks
| Assessment Task | Weighting |
|---|---|
| 1. Online Quiz(zes) | 20% |
| 2. Annotated bibliography | 30% |
| 3. Written Assessment | 50% |
This is a graded unit: your overall grade will be calculated from the marks or grades for each assessment task, based on the relative weightings shown in the table above. You must obtain an overall mark for the unit of at least 50%, or an overall grade of ‘pass’ in order to pass the unit. If any ‘pass/fail’ tasks are shown in the table above they must also be completed successfully (‘pass’ grade). You must also meet any minimum mark requirements specified for a particular assessment task, as detailed in the ‘assessment task’ section (note that in some instances, the minimum mark for a task may be greater than 50%).

Feedback, Recommendations and Responses
Every unit is reviewed for enhancement each year. At the most recent review, the following staff and student feedback items were identified and recommendations were made.
Source: Student feedback, self-reflection.
Some students are unsure how to use generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) while ensuring they adhere to the principles of academic integrity.
Continue to encourage discussion and provide resources related to digital literacy, focusing on the ethical and responsible use of generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI).
Discussion of AI takes place as part of almost every lecture in the unit. An entire Moodle Tile is dedicated to AI tools available to students across areas such as study skills, finding literature, referencing, writing, and ethical use.

The podcast is an informative and rewarding group experience, and the quality of the productions are of a high quality.
Maintain the podcast as the group assessment task but continue to grow the resources to assist students with scripting, recording, and editing podcasts.
Additional resources for developing podcasts (such as scripting, recording, editing, sound effects) were added to the assessment guide.

Ongoing student uncertainty around how to use generative AI appropriately and ethically in assessments.
Continue to reinforce the message that AI should serve as a support tool, not a replacement for student thinking, and clarify this distinction early in the term. Ensure appropriate AI use is discussed in relation to academic integrity expectations, and include more practical, task-specific examples linked to assessments.
In Progress
Source: Student feedback via emails and SUTE comments; staff observation of group assignment issues.
Some student groups experience difficulty with collaboration, including unequal contributions and disengaged group members.
Continue current proactive strategies: forming slightly larger groups to account for potential dropouts, early-term and consistent group check-ins by teaching staff, monitoring engagement, notifying groups when members drop out, and contacting non-engaged students. Maintain the groupwork-focused lectures and recommended use of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to support time management, shared expectations, and conflict resolution.

Other portfolio formats are required after Portfolium was discontinued as a university supported platform.
Consider adopting a LinkedIn profile as an alternative or complementary option to the Word-based portfolio, to enhance authenticity and provide students with a real-world professional presence.
