This is one of two alternate unit offerings within the GCR. The units have identical content and students will be required to take either the full time or part time Unit. All course content and assessment pieces are conducted within these units. The Graduate Certificate in Research (GCR) will provide you the opportunity to acquire advanced research skills which can be applied in a range of disciplinary contexts. This unit and course is aimed at professionals in a range of industry, government and community settings, and the course content is able to be tailored to suit your current employment context and/or areas of research interest by allowing the content to be completed in part time context. The qualification can be taken by domestic students from any campus location or by distance education. International students may study at any campus or in off-shore distance mode To complete the course, a candidate will compile a series of research portfolio activities. New applicants may apply at any time of the year and continuing candidates will be re-enrolled at the beginning of each academic year. The coursework in which GCR candidates enrol are graded.

All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
Each 24-credit Postgraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 50 hours of study per week, making a total of 600 hours for the unit.

---|---|
1. Online Test | 30% |
2. Portfolio | 70% |
This is a graded unit: your overall grade will be calculated from the marks or grades for each assessment task, based on the relative weightings shown in the table above. You must obtain an overall mark for the unit of at least 50%, or an overall grade of ‘pass’ in order to pass the unit. If any ‘pass/fail’ tasks are shown in the table above they must also be completed successfully (‘pass’ grade). You must also meet any minimum mark requirements specified for a particular assessment task, as detailed in the ‘assessment task’ section (note that in some instances, the minimum mark for a task may be greater than 50%).
