Course summary

This accredited short course describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to provide full body relaxation massages.

It requires the ability to establish priorities with clients, synthesise knowledge of anatomy and physiology and lifestyle factors to design body massage routines, and provide advice on body products and protection from environmental damage. Body massage can be a single treatment or form part of a series of treatments. 

This unit applies to beauty therapists who work in beauty salons, massage clinics and spas. In this environment they work as part of a team but make independent treatment decisions. 

The cost of this short course will be $225.00.

Entry Requirements

There are no academic entry requirements, however students will need to be at least 16 years of age to provide massages to a partially clothed male or female body. 

Student Outcomes, Career Opportunities and Occupations

On successful completion of the practical and written assessment requirements for the unit, students will be eligible to provide massages to clients as part of a salon team

Duration and dates
3 weeks


The first class will be held on Wednesday, 9 August 2017. Weekly classes will be held on Wednesdays for three weeks. All classes will commence from 9 am - 4 pm at Building B, Room 2.01.

Students will require access to a computer and the internet to access online assessments and their student emails.
Students will need to provide their own models to perform massage services on.

Uniform Requirements

Whilst attending on-campus classes, students will be required to wear a salon uniform consisting of black pants or knee length skirt, black shirt with sleeves, enclosed shoes and a disposable apron.
