Course summary

Visual artists work in a wide range of contexts across the arts and other industries. They are often sole practitioners, but may also hold positions in government or commercial organisations. Artists work within and across many media and their practice may incorporate a range of art disciplines. Practice at this level is underpinned by the application of art theory and history.

Entry Requirements

This course supersedes and replaces CUV40111 and only continuing Certificate IV in Visual Art (CUV40111) students are eligible to enrol into this course, no new students. 

Student Outcomes, Career Opportunities and Occupations

Self-employment opportunities exist as visual artist or craftsperson, visual designers, workshop tutors, or theatre set painters. Skills acquired in this program may be relevant to the production of goods suitable to markets and gift galleries. Some candidates may produce work relevant to commercial, fine art galleries. CQU offers pathways to Diploma of Visual arts and Higher education programs in Education the Arts.

No new students should be enrolled into this course - only continuing students who are currently studying CUV40111.

Term 1 commences from Monday, 30 January 2017 and will end 23 June 2017.

Classes are held on Fridays from 9 am - 12 noon at Building B, Room 2.25.

Resource Requirements

Students will be required to purchase art materials for the completion of visual art projects, relevant to their studio area electives. Approximately, $50 - $200 should be considered a typical cost for student provided visual art materials per studio area electives chosen.
