Course summary

This qualification reflects the role of individuals employed as beauticians to provide a range of beauty services including nail, waxing, lash and brow, and basic make-up services.

These individuals possess a range of well-developed technical and customer service skills where discretion and judgement is required, and are responsible for their own outputs. This includes client consultation on beauty products and services.

Work is typically conducted in beauty, waxing, brow and nail salons.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this course, however students are to apply and meet with the teacher prior to enrolment.

It is recommended that students consult the teacher, should they require clarification of the practical and written requirements in order to achieve competency, or have work, medical or family commitments to consider. 

Student Outcomes, Career Opportunities and Occupations

On successful completion of the full qualification, students will be eligible to be employed as Beauticians and provide a basic range of beauty services including natural nail treatments, waxing, lash and brow, and basic make-up services.

This availability is offered by online study with 11 x five day compulsory intensive internal workshops held on campus. Workshops will be scheduled monthly throughout the year to participate in practical components of this course. 

Intensive internal workshops will be held at the following locations:

CQUniversity Gladstone City
CQUniversity Rockhampton City  
CQUniversity Mackay City

Theory content includes recordings, PowerPoint presentations, and activities for each treatment and will be available online with teaching support available through discussion forums, email, telephone and weekly Zoom tutorials. Online students require self-motivation and must have at least 10 - 12 hours per week available for research, reading and viewing recordings.

Model Requirements and Client Treatments

It is each student’s responsibility to ensure that a model is obtained and booked into the appointment book for all Practical Assessments. Students must be prepared to provide treatments to clients.

Uniform Requirements

Whilst on-campus, students are required to adhere to the following uniform requirements:   

  • Black or white tunic.  
  • Pants, ¾ Pants or black knee-length skirt with stockings.
  • Covered in Flat Shoes.
  • Disposable Apron.
  • Minimum makeup, minimum jewelry, no midriffs, short manicured nails.
