The Diploma of Justice Studies is the ideal course to provide you with the skills and knowledge to launch your career in a range of justice and/or law enforcement fields.

The course provides learners with the specialist skills and knowledge required to perform the following duties and functions:

• Interpret and apply Acts, Rules and Regulations to provide paraprofessional support and advice on justice related issues
• Prepare accurate legal and justice related documentation and communication using methods and protocols appropriate to the justice sector and the context
• Interpret and apply legislation to provide support and advice on justice related issues
• Conduct research and undertake complex investigations
• Gather and preserve evidence
• Work effectively in the crime and justice sector and within the legal and regulatory frameworks
• Prepare accurate documentation and communication using methods and protocols appropriate to the justice sector and the context
• Identify and apply the principles of law enforcement and the principles of natural justice
• Identify and explain social justice issues and the impact of these on crime and justice related matters
• Conduct research from primary and secondary sources to gather the evidence and information necessary to complete justice related tasks

Requirements - To Be Eligible

For your application to be considered, you must meet the following entry requirements.

Completion of the bksb (Basic Key Skills Builder) online literacy, numeracy and digital literacy assessment prior to enrolment, unless the student has completed an equal or higher level course.

What is the purpose of bksb?  

The bksb is an approved online review tool that will give the student a level for their English (literacy) and Maths (numeracy) levels, and can also help to identify any skill gaps or areas that the student might need additional support in.

It is beneficial for those seeking entry into the Diploma of Justice Studies to satisfy at least one of the entry requirements provided below:

• successful completion of a Certificate IV in Justice Studies; or
• successful completion of Certificate IV qualification; or
• completion of Year 12 or equivalent with a sound achievement in English, or
• relevant work or life experience in the business or justice fields.

VET Student Loan Information

VET Student Loans may be available for eligible students in approved Diploma level qualifications. The loan can be used towards Tuition Fees only and does not cover additional expenses such as textbooks, uniforms, equipment, travel, tools, and accommodation or general living expenses. Loan limits or caps may apply for some eligible courses and where a loan limit is reached for a course, students may be required to pay upfront for any remaining units.

The achievement of this qualification requires you to complete 8 core and 6 elective units. On successful completion, students will receive a Diploma of Justice Studies.
