Course Summary
This short course will consist of three (3) high Risk units as follows; MEM11010 Operate mobile load shifting equipment - this unit of competency defines the skills and knowledge required to operate mobile load shifting equipment, including planning, moving and placing loads and shutting down and securing equipment after operation where knowledge of codes and signals is not required in workshops and/or on-site locations. MEM11022 Operate fixed/moveable load shifting equipment - this unit of competency defines the skills and knowledge required to conduct routine operation and safety checks of fixed/moveable load shifting equipment within the limits of manufacturers' recommended procedures. It covers safe working loads, picking up loads, shifting and placing loads and activities where knowledge of codes and signals is not required. MEM11004 Undertake dogging - this unit of competency defines the skills and knowledge required to attach slings to loads and move loads using appropriate communication and signalling methods with a crane driver in a workshop or on-site. This unit is not intended to apply to machine loading and simple straight lifts where knowledge of codes and signals is not required. Depending on the equipment being used a high risk work licence may be required and users should check with the relevant authorities.

For your application to be considered, you must meet the following entry requirements.
Entry RequirementsStudents must have successfully completed all the pre-requisite units prior to enrolment into the High Risk short course and will also be expected to already hold the relevant high risk licences and will be required to produce them as part of the assessment evidence for the units.

Study Mode Definitions
- Online: Online courses provide the flexibility to study without normally requiring a student to visit a campus. Course content is studied through a number of means including the use of online discussion forums, electronic library resources, by contacting lecturers and teachers, and receiving study materials online/electronically. Work integrated learning, including placements, may be included in some courses.
- On-campus: Students studying in on-campus mode typically are expected to attend and participate in regular, structured on-campus teaching and learning activities throughout the University’s academic term. These activities may include lectures, tutorials, workshops and practice, online or other activities and normally will be timetabled at a CQUniversity campus or approved delivery site.
- Mixed Mode: Students studying in mixed mode will participate in a combination of online learning activities in addition to site-specific learning activities, which may include residential schools, co-op placements and/or work-integrated learning as a compulsory requirement of a unit. The additional site-specific learning activities are what differentiates a mixed-mode unit from an online unit.
