The Certificate II in Animal Studies is an ideal entry point into the animal care and management industry. This qualification prepares students for entry into sectors of the animal care and management industry, where workers provide care for animals in workplaces such as pet shops, animal shelters, kennels, catteries, groomers, sanctuaries and veterinary clinics. The Certificate II in Animal Studies is a pathway into other qualifications such as the Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
There are no entry requirements.
Mathematics, English and Science to a Year 10 level will be required for the content covered in the Certificate II in Animal Studies.
Students must have an organised work placement or casual work whilst undertaking this qualification as there are practical assessments to be completed by a third party. Students are responsible for finding their own placement.

Practical
Placement Information
Each
unit in this course has a mandatory practical component. Students who are not already
working in the industry will be required to undertake work experience to complete their practical
assessment. Co-assessment with a supervisor is required.
Prior
to enrolment, students are required to engage with their local area Animal
Industry Care providers to find suitable work placement and commit to
approximately 120 hours (3 weeks) of vocational placement over the duration of
the course.
