Course Summary

This qualification describes the skills and knowledge for trade level roles in the parks and gardens industry including gardener, greenkeeper and grounds person.

Individuals with this qualification perform tasks under broad supervision involving a broad range of skills that are applied in a wide variety of contexts, which will involve discretion and judgement in selecting and operating equipment, coordinating resources and applying contingency measures during work.

Work must comply with work health and safety and environmental regulations and legislation that apply to the workplace.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Requirements - To Be Eligible

For your application to be considered, you must meet the following entry requirements.

Entry Requirements

This course is for Apprentices. Students must be employed as apprentice municipal gardeners. Students must complete the Basic Key Skills Builder (bksb) online literacy and numeracy assessment prior to enrolment, unless the student has completed an equal or higher level course.

There are no other entry requirements for this qualification.

Students are required to supply their own personal protective equipment. Items include:

•            Protective Boots

•            Safety Glasses

•            Garden gloves

•            Wide-brim hat for outdoor work

•            Appropriate clothing  long sleeve cotton shirt and cotton drill shorts or trousers for outdoor work
