Course Summary

Upon successful completion of this course you will have the skills and knowledge required to perform servicing and maintenance of vehicles in an automotive service or repair business. You will also develop your employability skills including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, initiative and enterprise, planning and organising, self-management and hands on skills relevant to the automotive industry. Your studies within this course will be assessment focused.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements, however it is highly recommended that students have attained a Sound Achievement (SA) result in year 10 numeracy and literacy subjects or equivalent prior to enrolling in this program

Student Outcomes, Career Opportunities and Occupations

1. Students will receive a Result of Assessment within 21 days of completion of each unit/module or within 21 days of the ‘close of study’ date.
2. Students who successfully complete all required units/modules will receive their qualification and an Academic Statement itemising all units/modules successfully completed.
3. Following receipt of written advice from the student (or teacher) that the student does not intend to complete the full course, the student will be issued with a Statement of Attainment listing all units/modules successfully completed.

This qualification is intended to prepare new employees or recognise and develop existing workers who are performing servicing and maintenance of vehicles in an automotive service or repair business.

On-campus

There are various course intakes for 2018 which are specific to each CQUniversity campus.
6 months

This course is available to study on-campus at the following locations:

CQUniversity Rockhampton City (March Intake Only)
Classes will commence from Monday, 5 March 2018 and will be held on Mondays and Tuesdays from 8 am - 4.45 pm and on Wednesdays from 8 am - 12 pm. On the first day of class, students are to meet outside campus reception.


CQUniversity Mackay Ooralea (July Intake Only)
Classes will commence from Wednesday 4th July and will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8am - 4.45pm and on Fridays from 8am to 12pm.  

All classes will be held at the Automotive workshop at each campus.

Students are required to supply their own personal protective equipment as required including appropriate clothing and footwear. Such items include:

  • Cotton drill long pants
  • Cotton drill short or long sleeved shirt
