Course Summary

This qualification is suitable for people who coordinate and maintain the Work Health and Safety (WHS) program in an organisation. It reflects the role of practitioners who apply a substantial knowledge base and well-developed skills in a wide variety of WHS contexts.

Entry Requirements

For entry into this course, applicants need to have completed the below Core units (or equivalent) from BSB41415 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, or equivalent units from the former qualification BSB41412 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety. BSBWHS402 Assist with compliance with WHS laws BSBWHS403 Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS consultation and participation processes BSBWHS404 Contribute to WHS hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control BSBWHS405 Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS management systems BSBWHS406 Assist with responding to incidents Recommended Demonstrated currency such as working in the role of an OHS coordinator is also highly desirable.

Student Outcomes, Career Opportunities and Occupations

1. Students will receive a Result of Assessment within 21 days of completion of each unit/module or within 21 days of the ‘close of study’ date.
2. Students who successfully complete all required units/modules will receive their qualification and an Academic Statement itemising all units/modules successfully completed.
3. Following receipt of written advice from the student (or teacher) that the student does not intend to complete the full course, the student will be issued with a Statement of Attainment listing all units/modules successfully completed.

This course is available online with teaching support available through Zoom tutorials, discussion forums, email and telephone. Online students require self-motivation and should allocate 15 hours per week of study for each unit.

Yes. Your history of study, skills and experience does matter. Consideration is given to your prior life and work experiences as well as formal and informal training. This may be applied using the national standard for Mutual Recognition or through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Documentary evidence will be requested.

Pathways from this qualification include BSB60615 Advanced Diploma of Work Health and Safety. Students completing BSB51315 Diploma of Work Health and Safety are able to gain credits into the Bachelor of Occupational Health and Safety or Bachelor of Accident Forensics conducted through CQUniversity.
