The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care qualification reflects the role of an Educator who is responsible for implementing a learning curriculum within an Early Childhood sector. Upon completion you will be qualified to work within the requirements of the Education and Care National Quality Framework.
Standard Course Entry Requirements: Completion of bksb (Basic Key Skills Builder) online literacy and numeracy assessment prior to enrolment, unless the student has completed an equal or higher level course.
Ability to complete vocational placement component for the duration of the qualification.
Ability to obtain a Suitability Card (Blue Card).
PLEASE NOTE: Bridging Teacher Entry Requirements - Teachers are eligible to enrol in the customised course structure if they: - Hold a Primary Teaching qualification with a focus on children aged 5 to 8 years old (eg qualification with focus on children aged 3 to 8 or 5 to 12) A prerequisite competency will apply to students who have graduated prior to 1990. - Hold current teacher registration. (Qualifications that are specifically for middle and secondary school aged children are not acceptable) - A current First Aid Certificate with the code HLTAID004 is required which may be obtained during study Documents required for Bridging Teacher entry JP certified copies of the following documents are required to verify eligibility to enrol and are to be submitted to VET-childcare-rockhampton@cqu.edu.au before enrolment can continue: - Proof of teacher registration - Primary teaching qualification(s) - Marriage certificate or similar (if necessary) Please note - qualifications which are specifically for middle and secondary school aged children are not acceptable.
Students must complete a Vocational Placement and/or Work Integrated Learning as part of this qualification.

Practical Placement Information Each unit in this course has a practical component. Students who are not already working in a regulated education and care service for example Kindergarten or Long Day Care centre must organise a voluntary work placement. Students who are already employed in a regulated education and care service, can use their existing work to fulfill practical requirements. All students will need to complete third party reports, practical assessment, and a vocational placement logbook. These observations and reports will need to be signed off by a qualified supervisor with at a minimum, the same level qualification. Students will be required to complete a minimum of 240 hours of placement throughout the duration of the course. Students not currently working in the industry will need to organise a placement in consultation with teaching staff.VET Student Loans may be available for eligible students in approved Diploma level qualifications. The loan can be used towards Tuition Fees only and does not cover additional expenses such as textbooks, uniforms, equipment, travel, tools, and accommodation or general living expenses. Loan limits or caps may apply for some eligible courses and where a loan limit is reached for a course, students may be required to pay upfront for any remaining units.

Enrolment advice for Online Delivery
If you are enrolling into CHC50113 and have not completed the CHC30113 qualification you will need to enrol into Cluster 1 – Units HLTWHS003, CHCECE016.
Compulsory
attendance requirements
Students
who are not currently working in an educational workplace must organise a
voluntary work placement. All students
will need to complete third-party reports, practical assessment, and a
vocational placement logbook. These
observations and reports will need to be signed off by a qualified supervisor
within at a minimum, the same level qualification. Students will be required to
complete a minimum of 240 hours of placement throughout the duration of the
course.
All students will need to hold a Blue Card prior to starting their practical work placement.
