This qualification reflects professional accounting job roles in financial services and other industries, including tax agents, accounts payable and accounts receivable officers, payroll service providers, and employees performing a range of accounting tasks for organisations in a range of industries. Individuals in these roles apply solutions to a range of often complex problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They apply initiative to plan, coordinate and evaluate their own work and provide guidance to others within defined guidelines. Work functions in the occupational areas where this qualification may be used are subject to regulatory requirements. This qualification includes units that comprise an approved Tax Practitioner Board (TPB) course in Australian taxation law and commercial law, which are relevant for registration as a tax agent. Persons seeking registration with the TPB should check current registration requirements with the TPB, as registration requirements are reviewed regularly.
VET Student Loans may be available for eligible students in approved Diploma level qualifications. The loan can be used towards Tuition Fees only and does not cover additional expenses such as textbooks, uniforms, equipment, travel, tools, and accommodation or general living expenses. Loan limits or caps may apply for some eligible courses and where a loan limit is reached for a course, students may be required to pay upfront for any remaining units.

Completion of the FNSSS00014 Accounting Principles Skill Set;
Completion of FNS40615 Certificate IV in Accounting or equivalent;
Completion of FNS40215 Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or equivalent.
The primary pathway from this qualification is employment in accounting job roles with duties such as - Accounts payable team leader, Accounts receivable team leader, Collections supervisor, Payroll team leader/Manager or Budget Officer.
Upon successful completion of the Diploma of Accounting students may wish to consider progressing to a Bachelor of Accounting.
Learners have a finish date for individual units but may complete their training sooner if they have reached the required skill level. As most students will undertake this distance program on a part-time basis, the duration for the full qualification will vary. The course can typically be completed in 18 months, based on approximately 1200 hours of learning.
It is recommended that students enrol into one unit at a time. Students must complete all core units.
