Course Summary

Students will obtain knowledge providing a foundation for a career in computers and modern technology providing fundamental Information and Communications Technology (ICT)  knowledge and skills. They will be involved in areas such as introduction to ICT environment, occupational health and safety (OH&S), hardware and peripherals, software applications and client services. This qualification provides basic digital literacy skills to support a wide range of varying industry occupations.

Course Assessment Information

RPL - Students who have previous informal and formal learning need to advise their trainer/assessor prior to enrolment. If the student wishes to apply for an RPL they need to apply to the RPL Centre.
Credit transfer - If credit for relevant formal qualifications is sought, then the process will be actioned after the student has enrolled in at least one unit of competency as directed by the relevant trainer/assessor. The Trainer/Assessor will work with the student on their credit transfer application, and provide advice and support as necessary.

Enrolment Information

This course is expected to be superseded in 2021 and has been placed in Teach Out.  This means that one final opportunity is being provided to students who have nearly completed the qualification to finish their remaining Online units in the first half of 2021.

 

No new admissions into this course are being taken but continuing students can enrol in the Clusters as listed below.  


Expected Attendance

Students studying these units are expected to attend a one-hour weekly Zoom session for each unit. Clusters have a duration of 8 or 9 weeks.


Study Load
This course requires a considerable commitment to complete:
  • Students need to allocate approximately 5 hours per week per unit (1 hr Zoom session plus 4 hours private study). 
  • Students who do not make this commitment regularly are unlikely to complete the units successfully.
