Course Summary

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to operate ammonia refrigeration and storage units.  It includes applying operational principles and techniques that apply to ammonia refrigeration, normal operating parameters for the plant, identifying faults and defective components within organisational guidelines, and completing the necessary service documentation. 

The skills and knowledge in this unit will be applied by ammonia operator technicians during the start-up, operation and shutdown of ammonia refrigeration and storage units. 

Practice in the workplace and during training is also subject to Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations. 

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Student Outcomes, Career Opportunities and Occupations

Students who completes this course will be able to work in the ammonia manufacturing industry in ammonia refrigeration and storage operations.

This will form part of the PMA30120 Certificate III in Process Plant Operations under the PMA Chemical, Hydrocarbons and Refining Training Package. 

Students who undertake this short course will receive a Certificate of Participation.
