PDC128967 - Preparation Program for the NMBA’s Registered Nurse Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)

Course Details

Course Summary

If you are an internationally qualified registered nurse (IQRN) and want to work in Australia, you must complete Ahpra's self-check and qualifications assessment. Ahpra will then assign you to a “Stream”. Stream B candidates must pass a multiple-choice questionnaire and an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) before they can apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).

CQUniversity has developed this OSCE Preparation Program for Stream B IQRNs.  CQUniversity has innovated streamlined, accessible, affordable education pathways for IQRNs for over twenty years. We are national leaders in preparing IQRNs for the Australian workforce.

In this OSCE Preparation Program, you will learn to adapt and respond to any OSCE scenario like an Australian registered nurse. You can enrol into the OSCE Preparation Program at any time. It is interactive, self-paced and delivered entirely online. Your program fees cover tuition, as well as a resource kit we will send to you to practise clinical skills.

The time it takes to complete the program will vary depending on your prior knowledge and experience. For optimal results, we recommend spacing study over 1-3 months and building in extra time for practice.

Like any NMBA RN OSCE preparatory course, completing this program does not guarantee success in the NMBA RN OSCE examination. You must use the skills we teach to continue filling knowledge gaps, practice your skills and apply them to different scenarios.

Please note – Ahpra and the NMBA operate entirely independently of CQUniversity.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements, however, prospective students should keep in mind that this is a preparatory program designed for internationally qualified nurses wishing to sit for the NMBA Registered Nurse Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OCSE) as part of the NMBA's outcomes-based assessment pathway to registration.

Course Structures

Study Mode Definitions

  • Online: Online courses provide the flexibility to study without normally requiring a student to visit a campus. Course content is studied through a number of means including the use of online discussion forums, electronic library resources, by contacting lecturers and teachers, and receiving study materials online/electronically. Work integrated learning, including placements, may be included in some courses.
  • On-campus: Students studying in on-campus mode typically are expected to attend and participate in regular, structured on-campus teaching and learning activities throughout the University’s academic term. These activities may include lectures, tutorials, workshops and practice, online or other activities and normally will be timetabled at a CQUniversity campus or approved delivery site.
  • Mixed Mode: Students studying in mixed mode will participate in a combination of online learning activities in addition to site-specific learning activities, which may include residential schools, co-op placements and/or work-integrated learning as a compulsory requirement of a unit. The additional site-specific learning activities are what differentiates a mixed-mode unit from an online unit.

*All study modes may include Vocational placement and/or work integrated learning.
