This online Short Course has been designed to complement the work delivered by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) to focus on developing teacher confidence, capability and expertise in the key concepts and topics covered in the Food and Nutrition syllabus. It offers subject-specific knowledge and skills needed to underpin effective and contemporary approaches to teaching and learning in the subject.
This course will expand on knowledge of the importance of food, nutrition and food technologies; the impacts of choice and consumption; and the implications of wider consumer and market practices. Participants will be able to identify and understand relevant sectors of the food system and how food is developed, produced, processed, transported, stored and distributed.
The fee for this short course will be $100.00.
There are no specific entry requirements to enrol in this short course, however, it is designed for Secondary School teachers who expect to teach the QCAA Food & Nutrition General Senior Syllabus.

This course provides Professional Development for Secondary School teachers in Queensland who would like to complete studies in a flexible and self-paced environment to gain food and nutrition insights to inform teaching practices.
Undertaking this course enables teachers to meet Continuing Professional Development obligations for registration. Upon successful completion of the course, teachers will be awarded 12 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours and a CQUniversity Certificate of Completion.
