This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use a range of well-developed tourism services sales or operational skills and sound knowledge of industry operations to coordinate tourism services. Using discretion and judgment, they work with some independence and under limited supervision using plans, policies and procedures to guide work activities. This qualification provides a pathway to work in many tourism industry sectors and for a diversity of employers including tour operators, inbound tour operators, visitor information centres, attractions, cultural and heritage sites, and any small tourism business. This qualification allows for multi-skilling and for specialisation in office-based roles involving the planning and coordination of tourism services, or roles in the field where products are delivered.
Completion of the bksb (Basic Key Skills Builder) online literacy and numeracy assessment prior to enrolment, unless the student has completed an equal or higher level course.
There are no other entry requirements for this course.
Students must complete a Vocational Placement and/or Work Integrated Learning as part of this qualification.
Additional information
Students will need to be working in a suitable tourism, events or hospitality business, as a paid employee or volunteer, in a customer focused role, using organisational policies and procedures to guide work activities, working with some independence and providing guidance to other staff. There are no minimum required hours as these are competency based assessment tasks. The supervisor must have relevant qualifications or experience for the unit they are signing off and evidence of this is to be supplied to CQU.

Practical Placement Information
Students will need to be working in the industry or undertaking a practical placement in order to access to organisational policies and procedures. The placement will need to be in an industry or simulated environment where the planning, sale and supply of tourism and travel products and services are offered. The placement does not need to be purely based in an office environment.
