The Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Business dual degree will provide you with a multidisciplinary education that will allow you to gain knowledge in a range of humanities, business and social science disciplines. In Social Enquiry, you will examine everyday social life through the systemic study of social structures and interactions. You will adopt both sociological and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander perspectives. Sociology is the study of society with a focus on industrialised societies of the type that emerged out of the French and Industrial revolutions using variables such as race, class and gender. You will develop skills in applying investigative and interpretive tools for the analysis and evaluation of identity, crime and deviance, rural sociology and health. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander studies explains and critiques the contemporary life of Indigenous Australians through an understanding of pre-colonisation, colonisation, resistance and adaption, government policy, identity and the struggle for recognition and autonomy. You will examine a range of contemporary issues including land rights and country, racism, constitutional preambles, and community.

Business Majors: Accreditation & Membership
The Financial Planning major is accredited by the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA).
Marketing graduates may be eligible for membership of the Australian Marketing Institute and the Australian Market and Social Research Society.
The Property major is accredited by the Australian Property Institute (API). Graduates are eligible for associate membership and the course is endorsed as supplying the education requirements for certification as a Certified Property Practitioner. For more information, please refer to the Australian Property Institute website http://www.api.org.au/. Graduates may also seek registration with the Valuers Registration Board.
Please note: completion of this major will not provide students with the relevant qualification to be certified with the API as a Certified Practising Valuer (CPV) nor will it make students eligible for registration with the Valuers Registration Board in Queensland (other states may vary, please refer to individual state bodies if residing outside of Queensland). Students wishing to become registered valuers should enrol in CF56 Bachelor of Property.
Diploma of Arts
Students may, upon the completion of 8 units (48 credit points), exit the course with a Diploma of Arts. 4 of the 8 units (or 24 credit points) must come from the plans of the BA. The other 4 units can be electives chosen from any other course at CQUniversity. Students must satisfy the normal prerequisites that apply to their units.
Application for Credit Transfer
Credit transfer will only be granted where a student is able to demonstrate that tertiary studies equivalent in content and depth to a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Business (Specialisation) course have been completed. Students should examine the unit synopses in this handbook to determine the units from which they may be eligible to claim exemption. Refer to the Credit Transfer website at http://www.cqu.edu.au/credittransfer for further details.
Study Schedule
Students may determine their own schedule based upon credit transfers and personal study requirements. It is important to note that full-time students usually enrol in 4 units per term and part-time students usually enrol in 2 units per term.
