The Graduate Diploma of Traumatic Stress Management will assist you to work with colleagues and/or clients in a workplace setting and recognise the symptoms and outcomes of chronic stress and trauma. The course will examine the physiological and psychological factors which underpin stress and trauma. There will also be the opportunity to explore a range of intervention and management strategies, and referral pathways. The course, designed for service personnel and allied health practitioners, will provide you with the detailed knowledge and practical skills required to become competent at working with colleagues or clients, who may be experiencing adverse symptoms associated with chronic stress or trauma exposure, or who have received a diagnosis of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. The curriculum for the Graduate Diploma of Traumatic Stress Management draws on evidence-based theories, models, and best practices from disciplines including psychology, coaching, health promotion, and counselling.
The Graduate Diploma in Traumatic Stress Management is aimed at training professionals to understand the symptoms of chronic stress, trauma exposure and posttraumatic stress disorder, and to provide relevant and focussed interventions in a non-expert peer support and client based context. The course is suited to individuals who currently work with colleagues and clients who may be exposed to stressful and traumatic events in the course of their work, such as Defence Forces personnel, Police Officers, Emergency Service personnel, and Allied Health professionals.

1. A completed Australian Bachelor degree, or equivalent qualification, in a relevant discipline from a recognised tertiary institution; and
2. A minimum of 5 years professional experience in one or a combination of the following areas: clinical experience, industry related short course experience or peer support management
Relevant disciplines include: psychology, social work or a health-related science.
Letters of employment and qualifications must be supplied to demonstrate professional experience. Letters of employment must be outlined on a company letterhead and be signed and dated by a delegated authority from within the organisation.
