Course Overview

The Bachelor of Logistics course prepares you to confront the challenges of the globalisation in operations, logistics management and supply chain professions. The course's well-grounded approach will develop skills and new knowledge in order that you can deal with specialised logistics and supply chain matters. You will be well placed to deal with the management of operational problems in contemporary global and regional markets. Success for a logistics professional is the capability to identify, understand and, wherever possible, reduce uncertainty, variability and constraints – that is complexity; within the risk challenged environment of an organisations supply chains and logistics.

The Bachelor of Logistics course assists workforce adaptation in the changing global economy. As logistics and supply chains becomes more reliant on data and information, so jobs in the sector will change. Through providing a course with a focus on planning, analysis and human resources, you will be better equipped to respond to workplace change.

Career Information

Graduates from the Bachelor of Logistics course can seek employment and career opportunities in various industries and economic sectors, including hospitality, tourism, banking, mining, agriculture, transportation, distribution, warehousing, aviation, construction, manufacturing, importing and exporting, wholesaling and retailing. Job functions include strategic inventory planning, procurement, warehousing, materials handling, transportation, fleet management, and events organizations in both private sector and public institutions.

Graduates in Logistics may be employed as:

  • Analysts who measure and interpret the performance of a supply network, specific supply chains and logistics operations
  • Team leaders and managers who make the receipt and delivery plans and schedules happen – on time and on cost
  • Specialists in supply chain and logistics IT and technology
  • Liaison for a shipper (or brand company) with logistics services providers (LSPs) and customers to improve relationships and performance
  • Commercial procurement specialists who negotiate with suppliers
  • Business development specialists generating sales for a LSP

Credit Points that Must be Earned 144
Number of Units Required CQUniversity uses the concept of credits to express the amount of study required for a particular course and individual units. The number of units varies between courses. Units in undergraduate courses normally consist of 6 points of credit or multiples thereof (e.g. 12, 18, 24).
Expected Hours of Study One point of credit is equivalent to an expectation of approximately two hours of student work per week in a term.

Entry Requirements

Successful completion of a Diploma of Logistics, Diploma of Materiel Logistics, Diploma of Deployment Logistics or Diploma of Supply Chain Management or equivalent with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) in Australia.

English Requirements:

If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa or United States of America, you are required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements set by the University.

Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion of:

  • a secondary qualification (Year 11 and 12, or equivalent), or
  • tertiary diploma level qualification, or
  • bachelor level qualification study for a period of at least 2 years fulltime with a minimum overall GPA 4./0

completed within Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, South Africa, Ireland, or United States of America, which will meet the English proficiency.

If you do not satisfy any of the above you will need to undertake an English language proficiency test and achieve the following scores:

  • An International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic) overall band score of at least 6.0 overall with a minimum 5.5 in each subset; or
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Requires 550 or better overall and minimum TWE score of 4.5 (Paper Based Test), or 75 or better overall and no score less than 17 (Internet Based Test): or
  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Requires an overall score of 54 with no sub-score less than 46; or
  • An Occupational English Test with Grades A or B only in each of the four components; or
  • Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) - Score of 180 or above; or
  • Cambridge Certificatge of Proficiency in English - Score of 200 or above; or
  • Combined Universities Language Test (CULT) - 70% with no individual component score of less than 15.

English test results remain valid for no more than two years between final examination date and the date of commencement of study, and must appear on a single result certificate.

Applications have been made for accreditation by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS); the Logistics Association of Australia and the Supply Chain & Logistics Association of Australia. Students enrolled in the course are eligible for student membership of CIPS. By selecting appropriate units, graduates of the course may be eligible for full membership of CIPS.

Membership, amongst other benefits, gives students access to the comprehensive career support from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply including access to the resources of the CIPS International On-Line Knowledge Centre, the largest online resource of its kind specifically focused on transport and logistics.
