This is a graded unit: your overall grade will be calculated from the marks or grades for each assessment task, based on the relative weightings shown in the table above. You must obtain an overall mark for the unit of at least 50%, or an overall grade of ‘pass’ in order to pass the unit. If any ‘pass/fail’ tasks are shown in the table above they must also be completed successfully (‘pass’ grade). You must also meet any minimum mark requirements specified for a particular assessment task, as detailed in the ‘assessment task’ section (note that in some instances, the minimum mark for a task may be greater than 50%).

Feedback, Recommendations and Responses

Every unit is reviewed for enhancement each year. At the most recent review, the following staff and student feedback items were identified and recommendations were made.

Source: SUTE Unit Comments- T1, 2023
Feedback
Students would like discipline specific markers to help with feedback.
Recommendation
Continue to try and source discipline specific markers for each stream of students enrolled in this unit.
Action Taken
The number of markers in this unit were reduced to reduce variation in marking. All three markers were qualified sonographers with a PhD. One marker's PhD involved cardiac sonography. The markers expertise aligns with students course of enrolment as a medical or cardiac sonographer.

Feedback
Students enjoyed choosing their own topic to research.
Recommendation
Continue the practice of allowing and supporting students in their choice of topic.
Action Taken
Students continued to choose a topic of choice.

Feedback
Students preferred an analytic rubric compared to the holistic rubric style.
Recommendation
The rubric was based on a TEQSA example and peer reviewed by markers. Mark allocation was discussed with the markers. Consider using a hybrid holistic rubric if this unit is rerun.

Feedback
Students found the task guidelines and assessment overview lectures helpful but would have like an exemplar for each assessment.
Recommendation
Continue to provide a task guideline and associated lectures to students. Exemplars can be provided for both assessments if this unit is rerun.
