This unit provides nurse practitioner candidates with advanced analytical and critical thinking skills to understand and examine the relationships between scholarly literature, research evidence and clinical practice. Nurse practitioner candidates will develop knowledge and skills about research methods and the processes for undertaking research. This unit enables nurse practitioner candidates to engage with the literature to identify, synthesise, and critique the strengths, gaps, and limitations within existing knowledge. Nurse practitioner candidates will be able to generate clinically relevant research questions to expand the body of evidence-informed knowledge in their field of specialty practice. Nurse practitioner candidates will be supported to develop a research project and generate recommendations for practice change in their field of specialty practice. Students must be enrolled in the Master of Nurse Practitioner course to undertake this unit.
