Are you ready to turn a dream into a flourishing business? If you complete Certificate IV in Entrepreneurship and New Business, you will have a practical understanding of what it takes to run a successful small business or establish a new venture within a larger organisation.
This qualification reflects the role of individuals establishing or operating a business providing self-employment, as well as those establishing a new venture as part of a larger organisation. These individuals use well developed skills and a broad knowledge base to solve a range of unpredictable problems and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others and have responsibility for the output of others. Students undertaking this course will develop a new business concept for a simulated workplace.

Completion of the bksb (Basic Key Skills Builder) online literacy and numeracy assessment prior to enrolment, unless the student has completed an equal or higher level course.
What is the purpose of bksb?
The bksb is an approved online review tool that will give the student a level for their English (literacy) and Maths (numeracy) levels, and can also help to identify any skill gaps or areas that the student might need additional support in.

This achievement of this qualification requires you to complete 4 core and 6 elective units. On successful completion, students will receive a Certificate IV in Entrepreneurship and New Business.
Career opportunities: Small Business Manager, Business Coordinator, Office Supervisor, Accounts Supervisor, and Manager.
Pathways: Students who successfully complete BSB40320 Certificate IV in Entrepreneurship and New Business will be eligible for entry into the BSB50120 Diploma of Business/BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management. Students may receive credit towards BSB50120/BSB50420 for units completed in BSB40320. Students will also be eligible for entry into CL86 Bachelor of Business, at CQUniversity.
Exit Points: Students who exit this course at any time prior to completion will receive a statement of attainment for those units of competency they have successfully achieved.

Part-time: One (1) unit per 10 week study period
To ensure you can manage your study load, we recommend limiting your workload to no more than one (1) unit per study period. Some students may progress at a faster rate based on their experience, knowledge, and skills, as they would be able to apply the actual context of workplace experience to their assessments.
Online self-directed course study is structured into fixed intake study periods that have set durations of 10 weeks per intake period from the intake commencement date. You will be able to access your learning materials two weeks prior to the commencement of the intake study period. You must be enrolled into your unit/s to be able to access your learning materials.
To ensure you can manage your study load, we strongly recommend students follow the recommended unit study sequence when enrolling and enrol in no more than 1 unit per intake or the units required to complete one cluster/stage unless otherwise advised.
Students may choose to complete generic electives. The units within the Generic Course Electives are recommended units that students may choose. Please contact the Course Management Team at spc@cqu.edu.au, for assistance substituting your elective units.
