Course Summary

This qualification is designed for individuals seeking to become proficient trainers and assessors across various industries.  It aims to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively plan, deliver, and assess training programs within a vocational education and training (VET) setting.

Requirements - To Be Eligible

For your application to be considered, you must meet the following entry requirements.

Entry Requirements

Those entering this qualification must be able to demonstrate vocational competence in their proposed training and assessing area. Vocational competence is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification.

CQUniversity requirements:

  • Minimum of three (3) years work experience in your chosen training and assessing area
    • required evidence: letter of employment/employment statement/document confirming this experience

         OR

  • A relevant unit of competency or qualification in your chosen training and assessing area. Due to trainers requiring up to date qualifications, if the unit or qualification was completed prior to 2015, you will require evidence of work experience (to confirm currency)
    • Required Evidence: statement of attainment, qualification, testamur etc

         AND

  • completion of bksb (Basic Key Skills Builder) online literacy, numeracy and digital literacy assessment prior to enrolment, unless the student has completed an equal or higher-level course

ADDITIONAL STUDY REQUIREMENTS

  • access to computer with internet
  • webcam for recording of training and assessment delivery
  • access to other 'students' for delivery. As a minimum, the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment qualification requires you to deliver presentations to a face-to-face, in person audience, which obviously cannot be delivered in an online platform - your audience must physically be in the same room as you. Participants can be friends, family, colleagues, or fellow students.  A minimum of five (5) participants are required to be organised by yourself, noting they must be over the age of 15.

TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment reflects the roles of entry-level vocational education and training (VET) teachers, trainers and assessors who are delivering training services to vocational learners and assessment services to candidates.  The roles may be undertaken by those working in registered training organisations (RTOs), enterprises, community organisations, schools and other VET provision contexts.

This qualification meets the minimum education requirement for trainers and assessors operating without supervision under applicable VET legislation, frameworks and/or standards.

COURSE STRUCTURE
ONLINE

Online - this qualification is delivered via our online platform, Moodle, over 72 weeks part time. 

The delivery of this qualification is divided into 6 clusters (groups) of units, with a total of 12 units. 

This online program will provide group zoom sessions as scheduled. Where participants cannot join at the specified time, a recording will be available for access. 

This qualification is competency and cluster-based, and students can complete their training sooner if they have reached the required skill level.

Students must successfully complete all components of the assessment tasks within the qualification to be deemed competent.

Cluster 1- Introduction to VET

In this cluster, you will learn about the following topics:

  • interpreting VET policy context
  • operating within VET delivery and compliance frameworks
  • working effectively with vocational learners
  • plan and improve own professional practice

Duration: 6 weeks

Cluster 2 - Introduction to Training

In this cluster, you will learn about the following topics:

  • prepare, deliver and review the presentation
  • organise instruction and demonstration
  • conduct instruction and demonstration
  • check and review training performance

Duration: 9 weeks for this cluster (group)

Cluster 3- Introduction to Foundation Skills

In this cluster, you will learn about the following topics:

  • Identify, apply and review integrated foundation skill resources, strategies, and advice
  • organisational procedures and resources
  • techniques to collaborate with sources of foundation skill support
  • mechanisms to review effectiveness

Duration: 6 weeks

Cluster 4 - Delivery and Facilitation 

In this cluster, you will learn about the following topics:

  • plan, design and develop plans for vocational training
  • plan, prepare, and customise vocational training
  • deliver face-to-face vocational training
  • support individual and group learning
  • review vocational training practice
  • prepare to facilitate, develop plans and implement workplace-based learning
  • establish and develop the learning relationship
  • close and evaluate workplace-based learning

Duration: 12 weeks for this cluster (group)

Cluster 5 - Assessment

In this cluster, you will learn about the following topics:

  • Prepare, analyse, apply and evaluate nationally recognised training products
  • plan and prepare to conduct assessment
  • customise assessment process
  • prepare candidates
  • collect evidence
  • make assessment judgement
  • review assessment practice
  • prepare for validation activities
  • participate in assessment validation
  • contribute to validation outcomes

Duration: 12 weeks for this cluster (group)

Cluster 6- eLearning and Assessment

In this cluster, you will learn about the following topics:

  • prepare and assess in online environment
  • administer online assessment
  • make assessment decision of evidence submitted online
  • finalise the online assessment process
  • plan and organise online learning environment for delivery of synchronous and asynchronous learning activities
  • introduce and establish online learning
  • facilitate and support online learning
  • review online learning processes

Duration: 9 weeks for this cluster (group)

RPL STRUCTURE

RPL only - no training occurs. 

RPL involves an assessment process of an individual’s previously obtained skills and knowledge that has been achieved outside the formal education and training system. The duration is dependent on evidence collection by the candidate and approval of evidence by the CQUniversity assessor.
