This course provides students with the opportunity to extend their understanding of project management by establishing a deep foundational knowledge base of the theoretical principles as well as the practical application of project management. The course consists of coursework that explores the principles of project management as based on recognised international standards, guidelines and frameworks. Examples of different project domains are explored thorough case studies. Each case study enables the student to explore the application of project management closely aligned to their chosen career paths. The course develops technical skills in the initiation, bidding, tendering, planning, design, procurement, execution, reporting, commissioning, hand over, and post project support of projects. Human skills in stakeholder management, communication, team building, negotiation, and the advocation of ongoing professional career development are integrated into the coursework material and assessments. Then finally, the systems perspectives of project and program management are investigated with respect to the applications systems, information, and knowledge that is required to achieve effective project, program and portfolio management in modern large organisations.
