Certificate III in Business Administration (BSB30415)

Course summary

Perform common business-related tasks such as producing documents and building customer relationships. This course will introduce you to a range of standard business software packages including word processing, layout and database software.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply a broad range of administrative competencies in varied work contexts, using some discretion and judgement. They may provide technical advice and support to a team.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification though it is recommended that students have basic computer skills, keyboard skills, and appropriate literacy and numeracy levels.

Other requirements:

The Certificate III Business Administration includes a core unit of BSBITU307 which includes a supervised 5 minute speed and accuracy typing test as part of the assessment for this unit of competency. All students must be able to attend a local CQUni or TAFE campus to complete the supervised test.

Distance students require strong self motivation and must have 4-6 hours per week available for study for each unit. This course is self paced so students must have sound literacy and numeracy skills. This course is delivered by distance education so students must have access to a computer and the internet. Students are allocated 13 weeks from enrolment to complete each unit.

Students studying via Distance Education in the Gladstone region can attend optional on-campus tutorials at CQUniversity Gladstone City. These will commence from Tuesday, 7 February 2017 from 4 pm - 6 pm at Building D Room 3.03.

Students studying via Distance Education in the Mackay region can attend optional on-campus tutorials at CQUniversity Mackay City. These will commence from Tuesday, 15 August 2017 from 1 pm - 4 pm in Building 1, Room G.20.

All resources will be provided using Moodle online, though these documents cannot be printed. Once the student is enrolled and logs into Moodle, instructions are available concerning the purchase of textbooks and how to view the online option. Printed versions of the textbooks can be purchased from Software Publications if the student wishes.

Resource Requirements

This course is delivered by distance education so students must have access to a computer and the internet, as well as access to MS Office 2010 or MS Office 2013. Students are provided access to an online eLearning site where resource materials are available.
