The Master of Medical Ultrasound course provides the opportunity for qualified medical sonographers with a Graduate Diploma level qualification and two years clinical experience as a qualified sonographer to undertake professional development and theoretical learning. This coursework Master is a top-up qualification from the Graduate Diploma of Medical Sonography (or equivalent). It enables study to broaden knowledge in areas of advanced clinical sonographic practice and research. A unit dedicated to furthering knowledge in research, called Medical Science Research Project must be completed. Advanced clinical practice knowledge can be gained by completing selected units including upper body advanced musculoskeletal sonography, lower body advanced musculoskeletal sonography, advanced fetal echocardiography, advanced vascular sonography, advanced obstetric and paediatric sonography and advanced communication and clinical education. Theoretical content will be provided by flexible online learning.
In the Master of Medical Ultrasound, students will undertake units in advanced practice in disciplines of their choice. This will see graduates enhancing their career advancement opportunities as specialists in their chosen area and being highly employable in their field of expertise across both the private and public sectors.

To be eligible for entry into this course, applicants must supply:
· A completed Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) equivalent Graduate Diploma of Medical Sonography; and
· Letter/s of employment demonstrating a minimum of two years clinical experience as a Medical Sonographer
Letters of employment must be presented on a company letterhead and be signed and dated by a delegated authority. Please ensure that the letter contains your full name, position title, duties performed, hours per week, and length of service.
English Language Proficiency Requirements:
If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa or United States of America you are required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements set by the University. Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion of:
· A secondary qualification (Year 11 and 12, or equivalent), or
· An Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) diploma level qualification, or
· Bachelor level qualification study for a period of at least 2 years full time with a minimum overall GPA 4.0
Completed within Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, South Africa, Ireland, or United States of America, which will meet the English proficiency.
If you do not satisfy any of the above, you will need to undertake an English language proficiency test and achieve the following scores as below:
· An International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) overall band score of at least 6.0 overall with a minimum 5.5 in each subset; or
· Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Requires 550 or better overall & minimum TWE score of 4.5 (Paper Based Test), or 75 or better overall and no score less than 17 (Internet Based Test); or
· Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Requires an overall score of 54 with no sub-score less than 46; or
· An Occupational English Test with Grades A or B only in each of the four components.
English test results remain valid for no more than two years between final examination date and the date of commencement of study and must appear on a single result certificate.

Unit Credit/Recognition for Prior Learning
Credit for a unit may be granted to students who are able to demonstrate appropriate prior learning at an equivalent tertiary level, and usually completed in the last 5 years at a recognised educational institution.
Unit credit for recognition of prior learning cannot be granted for unit MEDS29007 (Medical Science Research Project) for students that completed a unit of the same name (MEDS21006) as part of Graduate Diploma level studies within the CG91 (Bachelor and Graduate Diploma of Medical Sonography) course. MEDS29007, although similar in name has a higher level of learning and different learning outcomes, and is completed as a qualified sonographer, rather than an unqualified student sonographer.
